Abstract
Desde el 2006, una nueva rama de la biología vegetal ha tratado de ganar terreno: la neurobiología vegetal, pero desde sus inicios la controversia ha rondado a los investigadores que abogan por ella. ¿Por qué la controversia? Pues principalmente porque hasta la fecha no se ha demostrado que las plantas posean un sistema nervioso, y el término “neurobiología” es en sí el estudio de la biología de este sistema. Pero los científicos que abogan por esta nueva área no se rendirían tan fácil... Es ahí donde entró en escena la idea de que aunque las plantas no tienen un sistema nervioso como tal, sí pueden sentir y percibir el ambiente generando respuestas tales como enrollar sus hojas cuando las tocan, crecer más rápido cuando están en peligro o en presencia de depredadores, y activar trampas cuando las presas se encuentran dentro de ellas. Pero hasta la fecha, no existe evidencia que confirme que las plantas eligen sus acciones, aprenden en el camino o se lastiman ocasionalmente en el proceso.--LEER MÁS--
