Abstract
La valeur écologique des terres humides, habitats riches de vie et productifs, est parfois méconnue des gens en général et même des résidents des zones côtières. Des élèves de quatrième année, à Bathurst, au Nouveau-Brunswick, ont été interrogés pour identifier leur représentation des marais salés et leur relation affective avec ceux-ci. Ces enfants connaissaient très peu ce milieu et n’avaient pour la plupart développé aucune relation avec celui-ci. Un nouveau modèle d’éducation relative à l’environnement, de type expérientiel et biorégional, a été élaboré et expérimenté avec eux dans le but de rendre leur représentation des marais plus juste, plus détaillée et d’améliorer leur relation avec ceux-ci. Le modèle, tel qu’il a été appliqué, est parvenu à modifier leur représentation et leur relation, sauf en ce qui concerne la fréquence des visites dans ce type de site.
