Abstract
Le voleur d’enfants est un roman de Louis Forest paru dans en feuilleton dans Le matin en 1906. Le texte se démarque par sa forme inusitée, mimant la couverture d’une grande affaire criminelle par la presse. Fausse nouvelle, le roman ne vise pas tant à tromper qu’à divertir en jouant avec un certain imaginaire du crime et en utilisant les formes poétiques propres au journal de l’époque. À cet égard, le texte peut être analysé comme l’équivalent fictionnel d’un genre pictural visant à produire des effets similaires : le trompe-l’oeil.
