Abstract
Les parents qui ont réussi à l’école, qui s’impliquent activement dans l’éducation de leur enfant ou qui établissent des conditions d’étude favorables sont plus susceptibles de constater un bon rendement scolaire chez leur enfant. Les conditions favorables qu’offre le milieu familial, telles que l’encadrement parental, la stabilité intrafamiliale et les saines habitudes de vie, sont à ce point déterminantes qu’elles peuvent être suffisantes pour contrer les difficultés scolaires. Par ailleurs, certains parents ayant un enfant en difficulté scolaire au primaire vivent une situation familiale particulièrement difficile. Devant la complexité du problème, ils se sentent dépourvus et, malgré leur désir de venir en aide à leur enfant, ils rencontrent de nombreuses barrières, tant sur le plan personnel que scolaire. Cet article présente les résultats d’une recherche portant sur l’assistance éducative auprès de parents ayant un enfant en difficulté scolaire au primaire. Plus précisément, il expose les grandes lignes d’un programme d’interventions réalisé en milieu familial, dont le but est de permettre aux parents de mieux venir en aide à leur enfant.
