Dans cet article, nous abordons la collaboration de recherche avec les enseignants en tant qu’elle peut constituer une entreprise de légitimation de leur savoir d’expérience. À titre d’illustration, nous refaisons le parcours d’un programme de recherche visant la constitution d’une banque de récits exemplaires de pratique enseignante destinés à être utilisés en formation, selon l’esprit de la méthode des cas. Dans l’évocation de ce parcours, nous analysons les enjeux de cette entreprise de légitimation à chacune des phases du programme de recherche, soit aux phases de reconstruction (phase 1), d’analyse (phase 2) et d’exploitation, en formation (phase 3), des récits exemplaires de pratique. Nous réservons un espace de réflexion privilégié à la troisième phase de légitimation en tant qu’elle constitue notre préoccupation actuelle de recherche. Nous y adressons la question de l’appropriation du savoir d’expérience par l’apprenti et du rôle médiateur que peut y jouer le récit exemplaire de pratique.
