Abstract
Le but de cette étude est de mettre en lumière la nécessité d’établir un partenariat entre les écoles québécoises, la communauté et les organismes sociaux ou communautaires afin que l’inclusion des personnes handicapées ou ayant des difficultés se vive vraiment dans la société. Malgré les lois préconisant la reconnaissance des personnes handicapées comme individus à part entière, la société n’est pas pour autant éduquée à cette inclusion. Pour contrer cet état de fait, l’école a un rôle prépondérant à jouer. Il faudrait d’abord que l’école tienne, auprès des élèves, un discours empreint de croyances et de valeurs favorisant l’inclusion de tous. Un tel programme engendrerait une acceptation des réalités particulières de ces personnes qui se prolongerait ainsi, à court terme, dans la société. Un modèle favorisant cette prolongation et promulguant une éducation à la citoyenneté s’illustre dans le projet Propulsion où l’engagement des personnes handicapées dans la communauté est une réalité. En effet, Propulsion est un milieu de vie pour personnes ayant des handicaps physiques. Pour y être admis, les locataires de Propulsion doivent s’engager à occuper trois jours par semaine en temps sociaux. C’est dans ce contexte de participation sociale planifiée qu’il serait souhaitable d’actualiser une activité de partenariat social et de créer un projet d’inclusion de personnes adultes, locataires de Propulsion, à des classes du primaire de l’école du quartier.
