Abstract
Au Québec, depuis le rapport Parent, la bibliothèque scolaire a connu un développement plutôt erratique. Aucun article de loi n’est venu encadrer à ce jour son rayonnement. La situation actuelle révélée lors d’une enquête récente reflète cet état de fait : les ressources matérielles, financières et humaines diffèrent d’un niveau à l’autre, d’une commission scolaire à une autre. De nouvelles politiques nous permettent toutefois d’espérer un avenir un peu plus prometteur. En effet, une politique de la lecture émanant du ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec actuellement à l’étape de publication finale viendra renforcer un énoncé de politique dans lequel le ministère de l’Éducation du Québec accorde une place prépondérante au développement de compétences transversales. L’annonce de ces politiques, liée à l’implantation des technologies de l’information et de la communication, apportera un nouveau souffle à la bibliothèque de l’école qui, de plus en plus, deviendra un lieu privilégié d’apprentissage à l’usage de l’information. Ce contexte favorisera un nouveau partenariat entre les bibliothécaires/spécialistes de l’information et le personnel enseignant. Des services nouveaux pointent déjà à l’horizon, mais sont conditionnels à la présence de personnel qualifié.
