Abstract
Le colonialisme a changé drastiquement l’alimentation des communautés autochtones. Les bouleversements socioéconomiques ont mené à un abandon partiel des pratiques traditionnelles et donc à une augmentation de la consommation d’aliments de marché. Malgré leur disponibilité, ces produits doivent cependant être importés du sud de la province ou de plus loin encore. Leur coût demeure donc prohibitif et leur qualité laisse souvent à désirer. Arrivés à destination, ils sont souvent trop chers et peu attrayants. L’accès à une alimentation saine constitue donc un véritable défi dans les communautés nordiques. Puisque la colonisation est responsable de ces chambardements dans les systèmes alimentaires autochtones, la réconciliation passe nécessairement par une réévaluation des relations de pouvoir entourant la production et la consommation de la nourriture.
