Abstract
The globalization processes, in this case the projects of recovery of La Boca quarter and of Puerto Madero in the Central Area of Buenos Aires, tend to generate “quarter projects”, urban multipurpose complexes or quarters of a new type (open or closed) related in the global scale to projects of articulation and participation of multiple actors taking part in the processes of revitalisation and recovery of heritage areas with natural or cultural values. They are projects of improvement or recovery of “traditional quarters”, subject to loss or transformation processes due to damages in their historic or cultural heritage, or with strong symbolic and identity contents, which are translated into projects that stimulate the tourism industry (or that of leisure, culture and consumption); set-designed projects appropriate to the “global and spectacular city”
