En la presente investigación se estudia analíticamente el coeficiente de transferencia de calor al interior de una tubería horizontal con el objetivo de conocer su comportamiento durante la transición de la fase líquida a vapor del refrigerante R600a. Se hace uso de un refrigerante de tipo hidrocarburo por sus características, un bajo Potencial de Destrucción de Ozono (ODP, por sus siglas en inglés) y bajo Potencial de Calentamiento Global (GWP, por sus siglas en inglés). Actualmente, los refrigerantes naturales han logrado ganar espacio dentro de las industrias y han sido utilizados en diferentes investigaciones, con el fin de crear conciencia sobre la reducción del uso de sustancias que afecten las condiciones medio ambientales. Varios países a nivel mundial cumplen con los objetivos planteados en los protocolos de Kioto y Montreal, con la intención de reducir el uso de sustancias que afecten la capa de ozono y cuidar el medio ambiente. Las pruebas experimentales fueron realizadas utilizando un colector/evaporador, componente de una bomba de calor de expansión directa asistida por energía solar (DX-SAHP, por sus siglas en inglés), la cual se emplea en aplicaciones como sistemas calefacción, aires acondicionados, calentamiento de agua, entre otras. Los sistemas DX-SAHP se han convertido en una alternativa favorable en el reemplazo de los calentadores de agua convencionales debido a su bajo consumo energético, puesto que, utilizan como fuente de energía la radiación solar incidente, reduciendo así, el uso de combustibles fósiles y las emisiones de dióxido de carbono (CO2) hacia la atmósfera. Además, fusiona en una sola unidad el colector y el evaporador, reduciendo espacio, costos y aumentando la eficiencia energética del sistema. El modelo matemático seleccionado para el análisis del coeficiente de transferencia de calor fue el de Kanizawa, durante el análisis se consideró el efecto de la radiación solar incidente, velocidad del viento, temperatura ambiente. Además, fueron empleados diferentes parámetros tales como: Velocidad de masa, calidad de vapor, flujo de calor y temperaturas de saturación. Los resultados obtenidos muestran un coeficiente de transferencia de calor que fluctúa entre 2 y 10 kg·s-1·m-2, considerando un flujo de calor entre 391.44 y 488.27 W·m-2 y una calidad de vapor entre 0.2 y 0.99.
