Abstract

O artigo examina relações entre a educação contemporânea e a racionalidade neoliberal. Em especial, analisa enunciações de discentes sobre a escola e sobre o Ensino Médio, tendo em vista a implementação do Programa Novo Ensino Médio (PNEM). O referencial teórico advém de conceitos discutidos por Michel Foucault, Masschelein e Simons e Dardot e Laval. A parte empírica realizou-se em uma instituição de ensino pública estadual de uma cidade da região metropolitana de Porto Alegre – RS, em 2018. O material escrutinado é constituído por questionários respondidos por estudantes que frequentavam o Ensino Médio. A estratégia analítica utilizada para operar sobre o material orientou-se pela análise do discurso, como compreendido por Foucault. O exame mostrou que a racionalidade neoliberal tem conduzido as condutas escolares na atualidade. Dentre os rastros captados, destaca-se: a empregabilidade posta como foco do Ensino Médio; a competitividade e a performatividade pensadas como prerrogativas à conquista dos melhores resultados e a necessidade de reforma premente, tanto institucional quanto individual. Assim, conclui-se que o jogo contemporâneo marcado pelas lógicas neoliberais produz formas de vida escolares sustentadas pelos princípios da concorrência, aperfeiçoamento e autopromoção, fazendo com que os alunos se tornem empresários responsáveis por seu sucesso ou fracasso.
