Sujet privilégié de nombreuses descriptions littéraires, le jardin acquiert un statut particulier dès lors qu’il fait l’objet d’une narration propre à la fiction nouvellière. En raison de sa poétique spécifique, la nouvelle tend à conférer au lieu un statut évanescent, proche de l’entre-lieu, voire du non-lieu. L’étude de deux nouvelles québécoises récentes, où le jardin se situe au cœur de l’intrigue, offrira quelques pistes de réflexion quant à la représentation d’un territoire incertain.
