Abstract
Le jardin présente une version d’un réel sous contrôle, d’une variable déterminée du paysage. Comme l’évoque Berque, le paysage, en tant que concept, n’existe jamais autrement que dans l’esprit du sujet. Avec l’idée du proto-paysage, il suggère un dénominateur commun transculturel d’appréciation de l’environnement dans les cultures où le concept de paysage demeure absent. À l’opposé du spectre, le jardin présenterait les caractéristiques d’un post-paysage, soit la détermination imaginée d’une perception subjective que l’on tend à objectiver. Selon les observations neurobiologiques de Damasio, il serait juste d’affirmer que le jardin offre de parcourir émotivement le sentiment d’un lieu imaginé. L’analyse du post-paysage permet de préciser les rapports qu’entretient l’humain avec sa perception de l’environnement et les interactions qu’il estime nécessaires de valoriser ; mais surtout, une précision sur les rapports que l’humain entretient avec la perception de sa conscience.
