En 2001, l’organisme Mission urbaine a ete cree afin que des missionnaires urbains soient envoyes a la rencontre des jeunes de 18 a 35 ans dans les cafes, les bars et les salles de billard d’une portion de la ville de Quebec a forte densite jeunesse. Depuis lors, les missionnaires qui se sont succede ont favorise un veritable approfondissement de l’exigence et de l’originalite de l’experience missionnaire dans les peripheries. Mission urbaine se revele une saisissante ecole de la foi et du « discipulat » dans le cadre de l’action missionnaire. Cet article propose une lecture croisee des observations provenant de la pratique et de la lecture theologique de la mission aupres des jeunes adultes de Luce Dube, missionnaire urbaine des premieres heures, et des extraits de l’exhortation apostolique Evangelii gaudium du pape Francois.
