La présente étude examine l’impact de l’apprentissage par expérience sur la formation pratique et théorique des étudiants inscrits dans des programmes en ethnologie. L’analyse s’appuie sur un projet développé dans le cadre d’un cours de premier cycle en Folklore et ethnologie, à l’Université de Sudbury (Ontario), projet dont l’objectif principal était de mettre à l’essai ce type d’apprentissage. La description et l’analyse de l’expérience des étudiants, de leur relation avec les communautés et les milieux de pratique permettent de dégager une compréhension des forces et des limites pratiques et institutionnelles de l’application de la pédagogie expérientielle en ethnologie et anthropologie et, plus largement, en sciences sociales.
