Abstract
An appreciation of the major themes and dominant narratives in the study of science and technology as social accomplishments. An integrative understanding of the discursive underpinnings of science and technology and their application to interdisciplinary study, especially as it relates to the studnet's own program of work. We understand interdisciplinarity to be contested terrain--the site of struggle between the market forces at work in the comtemporary academy, traditional understandings of scholarship, and the need of interdisciplinary students to pursue meaningful research problems in meaningful ways.
