Abstract
\n Como alternativa aos combustíveis fósseis, os biocombustíveis vêm sendo largamente utilizados. Um subproduto do biodiesel, o glicerol, é usado na indústria farmacêutica, de alimentos e de cosméticos. A esterificação do glicerol, resulta na formação, dentre outros, da triacetina, que tem sido citada como aditivo para combustíveis do tipo diesel e biodiesel, prometendo reduzir o ponto de névoa, diminuir a viscosidade do combustível, melhorar o fluxo a frio, reduzir a emissão de partículas de hidrocarbonetos e monóxido de carbono e aumentar o número de octano na gasolina. Este estudo explora a esterificação do glicerol catalisada por líquidos iônicos. Para isso, foram sintetizados e caracterizados líquidos iônicos funcionalizados com aminas, que posteriormente participaram como catalisadores em reações de esterificação do glicerol com ácido acético. O rendimento das reações e a seletividade aos produtos foram avaliados em diferentes condições reacionais, variando-se parâmetros como a proporção de reagentes, temperatura da reação e quantidade de catalisador, e foi determinada a influência de cada parâmetro sobre a conversão e seletividade. Ademais, realizou-se um estudo cinético que permitiu estimar os parâmetros cinéticos e determinar as velocidades das reações diretas e inversas.\n
