Abstract
<p>Continuando nuestra comparación entre las cosmologías indígenas de la Sierra Norte de Puebla (ver Beaucage y Rojas Mora 2021), e-<br /> xaminamos aquí, a partir de relatos y testimonios, los encuentros entre los humanos y los entes sobrenaturales que quedaron en el mundo una vez terminado el tiempo de la creación: Dueños de la Tierra, del Agua, del Fuego, y también seres malignos como los Aires y los tepeuanij. Esos encuentros a menudo tienen consecuencias sobre la salud, el ‘susto’ siendo la más común, pero no la única. Para entender esa patología espiritual y los tratamientos realizados por curanderos y chamanes, empezamos por aclarar la concepción de los ‘centros y entidades anímicas’ en las culturas nahua y totonaca. Distinguimos a tres: el ‘espíritu/corazón/alma’, la ‘sombra’ y el ‘doble animal’. Las fuerzas cósmicas afectan estas entidades de forma distinta y los tratamientos varían en consecuencia. Nuestro estudio pone a la luz diferencias<br /> importantes en conceptos y prácticas entre nahuas y totonacos, pero también variaciones entre comunidades de una etnia determinada. Se necesitan más estudios de caso para poder estimar bien la amplitud de estas diferencias.</p><div> </div>
