Cet article se consacre à l’apport du poète et résistant déporté Jean Cayrol au documentaire Nuit et brouillard (1956) d’Alain Resnais en croisant les approches littéraire, testimoniale et intermédiale. S’inspirant de ce film classique comme étude de cas, l’enjeu principal de cette contribution consiste à examiner l’interaction entre texte et images de manière à interroger, à travers leur médium respectif ou par le fait de leur combinaison, les possibilités ainsi que les limites de l’expérience communicative de l’extrême.
