Abstract
Résumé : L’expérience de l’exil a mis fin à la conception d’une identité unique chez Wadji Mouawad. Québécois d’origine libanaise, Mouawad est un écrivain à cheval entre diverses cultures. Son roman Anima (2012) recourt à un français qui cohabite avec l’anglais, l’arabe et le latin, probablement, pour investir sa propre culture en mouvement. Quand le héros du roman, Wahhch, emprunte le même trajet (né au Liban, exilé au Québec), le rapprochement s’établit. Mais quand l’auteur lui donne la possibilité de croiser d’autres personnages dans le vaste espace nord-américain (Canada et États-Unis), les ipséités (identités propres ou personnelles) sont mises en œuvre au même titre que leurs identités multiples (entre Libanais, Français, Canadiens, Américains…). L’étude du roman interroge la francophonie de Mouawad comme construite sur des cultures et des langues mouvantes.
