Abstract
In this course, participants will develop familiarity with major critical approaches to the American and Canadian experience, using insights from history and sociology. They will examine some of the responses of the organized community to the challenge of maintaining identity, both individual and communal, that employ the tools of what is broadly known as education. Participants will be expected to formulate their own individual definitions of what constitutes a desired Jewish continuity and develop strategies for promoting it.
