Publicada com o selo das editoras das Universidades Federais de Pernambuco (Editora UFPE) e de Santa Catarina (EdUFSC), a obra e uma coletânea de textos sobre abordagens multidisciplinares e experimentacoes metodologicas da praxis da historia oral. Com a participacao de 16 autores de diversas instituicoes e no intercâmbio de pesquisas entre Brasil, Canada e Argentina, a producao discute as dimensoes da compreensao da oralidade e das fontes orais como um todo a partir dos processos de producao da cultura e da vida social, de modo a pensar historicamente as formas ambiguas e contraditorias de representacao do real, assim como as faces multiplas de traducao sociocultural. Tomando a historia oral como meio para aprender a heterogeneidade de experiencias e os conflitos nas relacoes sociais, o livro resulta em seis eixos tematicos: Fontes orais e o oficio do historiador; Historia oral, memoria e subjetividade; Historia oral, cidades e diferenca; Historia oral, desigualdades e movimentos sociais; Migracao, memoria e identidade; e Historia oral, ensino e diferenca.
