Abstract
O presente artigo aborda as comedias satiricas de Wole Soyinka, sobretudo apartir das proprias teorizacoes do escritor sobre o genero. Para ele, a satira deve conter o exagero comico, mas, tambem, um aspecto sinistro, que desperta a refl exao do espectador. Lisistrata, de Aristofanes, seria, segundo o dramaturgo nigeriano, o modelo da satira ideal, que diverte ao mesmo tempo em que faz pensar. Em suas proprias satiras, Soyinka insiste em confrontar as sociedades africanas (mas tambem a sociedade global) ao expor sua face tanto grotesca quanto sinistra, com o objetivo de provocar as mudancas necessarias.
