Au Québec, nous remarquons l’importance accordée à la qualité éducative en services de garde. Toutefois, les résultats des deux enquêtes Grandir en qualité (Drouin, Bigras, Fournier, Desrosiers & Bernard, 2004 ; Gingras, Lavoie et Audet, 2015) présentent des résultats similaires, malgré l’intervalle de temps qui les sépare. Il semblerait qu’une meilleure compréhension de certains concepts aurait pu permettre d’améliorer les pratiques des équipes éducatives, notamment la valorisation du jeu, l’importance des ateliers libres ainsi que l’intervention démocratique (Gingras & al., 2015). Comme certaines équipes de CPE sont inspirées par différentes approches pédagogiques, mieux comprendre l’influence de l’une de celles-ci devenait pertinent. En effet, l’approche d’Emmi Pikler et son regard sur l’activité de l’activité autonome (jeu de l’enfant) ont fait leur entrée dans des CPE, il y a approximativement 10 ans. Conséquemment, c’est dans des CPE où l’on s’appuie sur les travaux d’Emmi Pikler que cette étude a été réalisée. Cet article porte donc sur l’influence de l’approche piklérienne sur le concept de jeu selon des éducatrices d’enfants de 3 à 5 ans.
