La présente étude vise à corriger et à compléter un texte paru en 1948 dans la Revue d’histoire de l’Amérique française, qui faisait état d’un mémoire de l’intendant Jacques de Meulles supposément inédit. Non seulement ledit mémoire n’était pas inédit mais sa présentation était tronquée des deux tiers et la date présumée du manuscrit original, erronée. J’ai pu rétablir les faits à partir d’une relecture dudit mémoire tout en faisant appel à la première édition du document.
