Abstract
Mas que un periodo historico bien definido (de 1936 a los anos cincuenta), la Grande Noirceur (Gran Oscuridad) representa una epoca repulsiva. Es un mito constitutivo de la gran narrativa moderna de Quebec. Tambien seria una forma de abordar el pasado, que pretende tener en cuenta el llamado legado autoritario de un periodo historico. Sus representaciones ponen en escena una «mitohistoria» que, imitando la historia erutida, ofrece una narrativa dominante reproducida de generacion en generacion. Este articulo examina tanto el discurso que elaboro y propago la idea de la Grande Noirceur, como el que trato de cuestionar su veracidad y significado historico. Su proposito no es tanto evaluar el grado de oscuridad del periodo que precede a la Revolucion Tranquila como describir los hitos de la construccion sociohistorica de la ruptura de los anos sesenta y la deconstruccion mas reciente de esta narrativa, abarrotada de mitologias de todo tipo.
