Abstract
L’etude des generations actuellement dans la seconde moitie de leur vie adulte annoncent les changements a venir dans les caracteristiques des personnes âgees. Cinq aspects des conditions de vie sont abordes: l’education, la participation au marche du travail, le revenu, la preparation financiere a la retraite et la consommation. Parmi les tendances favorables aux conditions de vie des personnes âgees de demain, observees a la fois au Quebec et en France, on note la hausse du niveau d’education, la progression de la participation des femmes sur le marche du travail et l’amelioration du revenu. Les revenus ont progresse davantage chez les personnes âgees que chez les autres groupes d’âge; l’ecart entre retraites et actifs a ete plus reduit en France. Il est a prevoir que les modifications aux regimes de retraite et aux programmes publics, adoptees dans les dernieres annees, ou envisagees, auront des effets a long terme sur le revenu des retraites et sur l’âge de la retraite.
