Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) allows the connection of various devices/things to achieve a particular goal. The emergence of smart systems using IoT technology obtains efficient solutions for challenging problems in various industries. This will lead to a significant reduction in the costs for many different domains. With a focus on the healthcare sector, the Internet of Medical things (IoMT) improves various decision-making processes such as diagnosis, treatment, assessment, and rehabilitation. In this paper, our focus will be on the IoT and its impact on healthcare systems. Various algorithms and methods used for the IoMT, along with a comparative analysis of the performance, are discussed. Communication systems requirements, cloud computing's role, and security and privacy issues in the IoMT are also addressed. This paper acts as a comprehensive roadmap for future research direction the IoMT.
