Abstract
El proposito de esta investigacion es determinar hasta que punto los adolescentes de Quebec con comportamientos extremos de control de peso (CECP) difieren de los que no lo tienen en terminos de indice de masa corporal (IMC), experiencia de intimidacion, concepto de si y rendimiento academico. 835 estudiantes de entre 14 y 18 anos rellenaron un cuestionario en linea. Los que dieron pruebas de tener uno o mas CECP tenian un mayor IMC y un concepto de si mas debilitado que los que no lo hicieron. Existia una mayor probabilidad de ue hubieran sido intimidados por su peso. Las ninas con CECP presentaban un menor rendimiento academico en matematicas que las ninas sin CECP. Los resultados sugieren que la intervencion temprana y preventiva con los adolescentes es importante para evitar que su funcionamiento social, personal y escolar se deteriore y que los CECP continuen.
