Abstract
Lorsque l’Université du Québec reçoit la collection de Robert-Lionel Séguin, le recteur Louis-Edmond Hamelin mesure tout le potentiel scientifique et pédagogique de cette acquisition unique, mais aussi l’ensemble des défis qui se posent désormais à l’institution. Le projet scientifique et culturel de Séguin s’inscrit dans un environnement universitaire et avec une responsabilité publique ; comment collaborer avec le réseau muséal ? Comment assurer la pérennité de la collection et de sa mise en valeur ? Comment mettre en place une gouvernance appropriée ? La collection Séguin nous rappelle l’importance de l’affirmation d’un projet culturel inspirant et nous questionne sur le rôle des collectionneurs privés et sur les fonctions et les opérations d’un centre de conservation et d’études sur les collections.
