Abstract
This paper aims to analyze Billy-Ray Belcourt’s NDN Coping Mechanisms: Notes from the Field through the concept of the politics of body, utopia, and grief. For Belcourt, race and sexual contradiction are not intangible agendas but physical issues. He foregrounds the body as the actual field on which white heterosexuality discourses are exerted and engraved. Differentiated from other contemporary Canadian aboriginal writers, Belcourt regards the racial and the sexual as not separated but intersected on the axis of colonialism. For him, the indigeneity and the queerness are linguistically constructed on the body by the colonial discourses. Armed with post-structuralism, queer theory, feminism, post-colonialism, and intersectionalism, Belcourt practices, reforms, and revolutionizes the legacy of modernist and postmodernist literary techniques. As a writer of minor literature, he produces the text of symptom which can be a new exit for the congested contemporary world literature. For him minor literature is not confined to the private interests of minorities but touches the whole system, which constructs the unequal and unjust hierarchy and makes the minor literature very political and historical. Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
