Abstract
L’introduction du volume montre qu’entre les articles, il existe une réflexion sur la terminologie qui permettrait de démêler le vrai du faux, le réel de la fiction, l’authentique de l’imposture. Ces délimitations du statut de la parole touchent à l’intégrité des personnes, à leur sécurité, à ce qu’il est possible de considérer légitime entre les modes d’agressions sociales qui passent par le discours, les lettres et l’imprimé. Au fil du temps, les lois sur les libelles contrôlent la diffamation dont on a vu les résultats à la Révolution. Par ailleurs, la rumeur finit par faire partie de la sphère d’influence des mondains et des privilégiers, un effet de promotion personnelle ou de vente.
