Abstract
La bibliothèque scolaire a une histoire particulière et unique au Québec. Depuis la publication du rapport de la Commission Parent, dans les années 1960, les nombreuses publications et les différents rapports qui ont suivi la concernant émettent des constats, des propositions et des recommandations pour maximiser son développement et son utilisation. Bien qu’elle soit souvent définie dans la théorie et qu’on lui ait attribué un rôle important dans le paysage scolaire, il semble difficile de la développer à son plein potentiel et de soutenir son exploitation didactique par les enseignants. Cet article présente d’abord les contextes éducatif, scientifique et social dans lesquels se développe la bibliothèque scolaire pour ensuite présenter la mise en relation souhaitée entre les réalités bibliothéconomiques et didactiques afin de positionner la bibliothèque scolaire au centre des situations d’enseignement et d’apprentissage et donc, au centre du système didactique.
