Abstract
Children living in highly vulnerable situations and those who have experienced abuse and neglect are at high risk of developmental delays. Early detection of these delays is crucial in order to ensure that these children receive interventions to improve their development and to help them catch up with developmental milestones. The Grille d’Evaluation du Developpement (GED) (Development Assessment Scale) is a screening tool designed to detect delays in cognitive, language, motor, and socioemotional development among French-speaking children aged 0 to 5 years. The purpose of this paper is: 1) to present the GED’s structure and psychometric properties; and 2) to discuss the utility of the tool for social practice and research.
