Resume L’evolution des etudes medicales en Amerique du Nord est passee par trois etapes en 100 ans : l’approche dite scientifique dans les annees 1910, l’approche par problemes dans les annees 1960 et dernierement l’approche par competences. L’universite de Montreal entame une reforme des etudes medicales appelee « Renouveau pedagogique », laquelle integre dans un cursus adapte au rythme de chaque etudiant les sept competences essentielles du medecin du XXIe siecle. L’article, apres un survol historique et une definition des concepts, s’attardera sur les modalites d’application de ce modele pedagogique a la formation des psychiatres.
