El presente artículo busca explicar la emergencia de las masivas movilizaciones de los últimos 15 años en Chile, a partir de la emergencia del proceso de repolitización del individuo y de la particularización de la experiencia de lucha. Se basa en entrevistas realizadas en el marco de una tesis doctoral a activistas de tres movimientos sociales: el de pobladores por una vivienda digna, el de estudiantes secundarios y el LGBTQ. La cuestión clave es el rol que el individuo juega en estas movilizaciones. La hipótesis que subyace a este trabajo es que las movilizaciones sociales actuales han logrado darse masivamente manteniendo al individuo como eje valórico de este proceso y, de esa manera, superan la aparente dicotomía entre acción colectiva e individualismo. Se pasa de un individualismo como signo de fragmentación social a una repolitización del individuo, lo cual ha implicado una nueva forma de contestación social y de colectivismo que debe tener como punto de anclaje el valor de las subjetividades singulares presentes en el proceso de movilización.
