Abstract
Cette relecture critique de la série King of Kensington, présentée au réseau anglais de Radio-Canada, examine l’utilisation d’espaces locaux dans la construction d’une image cohérente de la nation mise en marché pour séduire le public canadien. La série façonne un modèle de citoyenneté qui vise à relier les notions d’urbanisme et d’appartenance locale aux priorités nationales déterminées par le contexte politique et historique canadien des années 1970. En employant la ville comme symbole du Canada uni, la série amoindrit conflits et tensions en projetant une image d’hétérogénéité réconciliée qui offre une impression de stabilité, rassurant ainsi les Canadiens pendant une période de grande incertitude.
