Abstract
Le 12 mars 2020, le Président de la République française, annonçant, à la télévision, la nécessité du confinement face à la pandémie de COVID-19, affirmait que la « priorité absolue » était la protection des personnes vulnérables. Cette priorité devait malheureusement se mettre en oeuvre dans un contexte de pénurie des personnels soignants et du matériel de protection, engendré par des politiques néolibérales de restrictions des dépenses publiques. Très rapidement, les personnels soignants se sont donc vus dans l’obligation de sélectionner les malades dans l’accès aux soins intensifs. Malgré la réaffirmation, par le Comité Consultatif National d’Éthique, de la dignité absolue de la personne humaine, et de l’impossibilité de distinguer les patients en fonction de leur utilité sociale, les soignants ont, sur recommandation des Agences Régionales de Santé, pourtant dû établir des critères d’admission en réanimation. Les témoignages de personnels soignants et textes officiels montrent que, en cas de crise, la prise en charge de tous, sans distinction d’âge, ou d’état de santé antérieur, n’est guère compatible avec la conception managériale du système de soin.
