Abstract
Este articulo ofrece un analisis de la relacion del padre Lionel Groulx con lo politico durante el periodo de entreguerras. Al subordinar su nacionalismo al catolicismo, que siempre se nego a instrumentalizar con fines politicos, Groulx desarrollo una ideologia tradicionalista y providencialista que daba poca cabida a la cuestion del regimen o a las reformas institucionales, y lo mantuvo en gran medida aislado de la influencia maurrasista. El groulxismo, que sin embargo contemplaba hasta cierto punto la creacion de un «Estado frances» independiente, contenia a pesar de ello cierta ambiguedad en lo que respecta a lo politico. La creciente tension dialectica entre las cuestiones nacional y religiosa en el ambito intelectual canadiense frances fue uno de los factores que impulsaron la Revolucion Tranquila de los anos sesenta en Quebec.
