Abstract
A la question polemique de savoir s'il y a trop de compagnies theâtrales, on entend souvent repondre qu'il n'y a jamais assez de theâtre ni assez de culture, ou encore qu'on n'arrive plus a suivre tout le theâtre qui se fait a Montreal. C'est pourtant mal poser la question que de la formuler ainsi. Dans la mesure ou les subventions accordees au theâtre par les differents paliers de gouvernement sont limitees ce que l'on peut d'ailleurs deplorer , la question tiroir que nous posons serait plus juste, car elle ouvre la porte a une reflexion plus large sur les facons dont on finance le theâtre actuellement :
