Abstract
biographie Mgr Alexandre-Antonin, Oblat de Marie Immaculee, est nomme eveque de St. Boniface en 1854 afin de mettre en place les missions de la baie d'Hudson et de la baie James. Il travaille sans relâche a la valorisation des droits de la population metisse et francophone dans la province du Manitoba. En 1867, lors des conflits engendres par l'annexion du Nord-Ouest, Mgr Tache s'inquiete du sort reserve aux metis et aux catholiques qui habitent ce territoire, et propose l'envoi de commissaires pour enqueter sur les besoins de la population. En fevrier 1870, durant la rebellion de la riviere Rouge, Mgr Tache soutient les rebelles et demande leur amnistie complete. C'est probablement sur l'insistance de Mgr Tache que la quatrieme « liste des droits » est redigee lors de l'annexion.
