Авторы анализируют результаты исследования проведенного в 2004 г. по теме «Конфликтный и деструктивный потенциал религиозной сферы Ставропольского края». По мнению ученых, в отличие от периода начала – середины 1990-х гг. сейчас происходит активное включение конфессионального фактора в этнополитические процессы в регионе, что позволяет говорить о формировании устойчивых этноконфессиональных политических идентичностей.
