Abstract
2 年に1 回開催される「国際がん看護学会学術集会(ICCN)」は今年，第14 回目を迎えカナダのトロントにおいて，シェラトンセンターホテルを会場に9 月27 日から10 月1 日の5 日間にわたって開催された．トロントは，カナダ南端，五大湖の一つオンタリオ湖北岸に位置し，420 万人の人口を擁し，100 以上の文化が共存するカナダ最大の都市である．また，カナダ経済の中心地でもあり，古くから地下鉄網が整備されるなど現代と開拓時代の歴史を残す美しい街である．メープルの紅葉が色鮮やかに街並みを飾っているのが印象的であった．開催地が，国際がん看護学会(ISNCC)のマーガレット・フイッチ(Margaret Fitch)会長の地元ということもあり，カナダがん看護学会(Canadian Association of Nursesin Oncology: CANO)の熱意と積極的な活躍が伝わってきた．学会には，世界各国から約2,000 名が参加し，最近にない多人数であった．日本からは80名もの参加があった．日本からの研究発表はがん看護の臨床，研究，教育における研究の成果が発表された．ポスタープレゼンテーションは，372 題の掲示発表があり，日本は，カナダ(119 題)，イギリス(63 題)に次いで3 番目の多さであった．特筆すべきは，学術集会の最終日に全ポスターのなかから，ポスター小委員会(The Poster Sub-Committee)と，学術委員会(Scientiˆc Committee)の審査によって優れたポスターの選考が行われ，日本の研究が，“がん看護の研究部門賞”と“がん看護の教育部門賞”の分野においてそれぞれ1 題ずつ受賞し，加えて“参加者が選ぶ最優秀賞”にも選ばれ，合計3 つを受賞する快挙となったことである．日本のがん看護が国際的に認知されることになったポスタープレゼンテーション，国際がん看護学会学術集会のハイライトであるTiSany Lectureship，そして，病院見学などを中心に学術集会の概要を紹介する．
