Abstract
FRÉDÉRIC THIBAUD La mise en scène au Québec depuis 1980 Oscillation entre création et répertoire S ous l'influence de la modernité, la pratique théâtrale occidentale s'est, au XX e siècle, profondément modifiée.Comme d'autres disciplines artistiques, le théâtre s'est transformé en une machine affirmant son caractère premier, son autoréférentialité.Une pièce de théâtre n'est plus une illusion de la réalité, mais l'expérience esthétisée de cette réalité.La théâtralité naissait alors dans le discours critique, et l'on imputait au metteur en scène, nouvelle figure emblématique de l'expérimentation, les changements observés dans les pratiques théâtrales.Les metteurs en scène possédaient désormais les nouveaux outils pour investir la scène de lectures esthétiques dévorantes : le théâtre de la mise en scène naissait.
