Abstract
En 1994, la Bibliothèque nationale du Canada mettait sur pied un programme de cueillette de statistiques de base sur les activités des bibliothèques canadiennes (PSBBC). Ce programme vise principalement à dresser un profil national des diverses catégories de bibliothèques. La mise en oeuvre de ce programme repose essentiellement sur le partenariat avec certains organismes et diverses associations. Un comité consultatif, composé de représentants d’associations et de regroupements de bibliothèques, coordonne l’élaboration des paramètres du programme, la cueillette des données, l’interprétation des résultats et la diffusion des analyses sur les tendances de développement des catégories de bibliothèques recensées. Le délégué de l’ASTED, présente un bref historique du PSBBC et le rôle du Comité consultatif. Il décrit également les interventions et les préoccupations de l’ASTED. Enfin, les résultats obtenus pour l’année 1994 ainsi que la situation particulière des bibliothèques québécoises sont analysés. En guise de conclusion, les futurs développements du Programme sont l’objet d’un bref exposé.
