Abstract
Los estudios y opiniones sobre un asunto tan analizado como el terrorismo, a menudo se basan en ciertas presunciones o cliches que nos alejan de la realidad. Una de estas presunciones se refiere a la etiologia del terrorismo y, concretamente, a la influencia de la pobreza y otros factores economicos en el surgimiento del terrorismo. En este articulo revisaremos el marco teorico y, sobre todo, los estudios empiricos cuantitativos que se han hecho hasta el momento al respecto de la influencia de los factores macroeconomicos en la etiologia del terrorismo. Esta clase de investigaciones aun es incipiente y tiene muchos retos que afrontar, lo cual nos exige mantener reservas sobre los resultados de los mismos y superar los problemas metodologicos de las mismas.
