Abstract

We have implemented and tested two distributed-memory direct solvers for a separable elliptic boundary value problem arising in numerical weather prediction The first version uses 4 data transpositions and performs the tasks along each direction in processor. The second version uses only 2 data transpositions but performs the inner task of the solver across processors. The performance of the two algorithms is shown to be similar and very good.
