Abstract
Bien qu’il soit possible d’incorporer l’ergonomie à tout moment dans un projet de construction ou de rénovation, son intégration rapide en assure la réussite. C’est bien souvent par l’intermédiaire du bibliothécaire, acteur central de ce type de projet, que l’ergonomie est intégrée. L’ergonome est un professionnel possédant une expertise distincte des autres acteurs, tels que le bibliothécaire, l’architecte, le designer d’intérieur ou l’ingénieur. Par son approche, ses méthodes et ses connaissances, il peut aider le bibliothécaire chargé de projet à rendre la bibliothèque, qui est aussi un milieu de travail, plus saine, sécuritaire et efficace pour le personnel. On ne doit cependant pas voir l’implication d’un ergonome dans un projet comme une panacée. L’ergonome ne peut qu’éclairer une situation en fonction de son expertise et ainsi guider la bibliothèque dans ses choix. Pourtant, il ne peut décider des choix à prendre à la place du bibliothécaire. Le succès de l’intégration de l’ergonomie dépend donc, entre autres, d’une approbation favorable du bibliothécaire dans les projets de construction ou de rénovation.
