Abstract
El propósito principal del trabajo es perfilar la magnitud de la contribución del total de los ingresos por turismo al conjunto de la actividad económica y al empleo en cada uno de los Estados miembros de la Comunidad Europea (CE). Si bien gran parte de los datos se refieren a mediados de los 80, es poco probable que la situación haya sufrido grandes variaciones en el tiempo transcurrido. Este documento tiene además un objetivo subsidiario: el de destacar, en este año del Turismo Europeo, la escasez de datos económicos fidedignos en lo que se refiere al sector turístico de la CE.
