Pour mieux connaître le profil sociologique des apprenants inscrits à une FOAD, leurs motivations, leurs difficultés et les bénéfices qu'ils en retirent, l'AUF, à l'issue d'un appel d'offres, a confié à un consortium d'établissements coordonné par l'université de Montréal le soin de mener une enquête durant trois années consécutives auprès des inscrits à un diplôme à distance durant les années académiques 2007-2008, 2008-2009 et 2009-2010. Les étudiants diplômés en 2008 et 2009 ont également été interrogés en vue d'analyser divers aspects liés à leur expérience de suivi d'une formation à distance. Ce chapitre présente la synthèse de cette enquête
